DocReporter

The solution for Documentum reporting

Your organisation deploys Documentum to manage development, security, storage, retrieval, workflow and distribution of your documents. Correspondingly, you will also require information about the contents of your Documentum repository.

Standard reporting within Documentum gives certain set information about repository contents but detailed requirements are often difficult and time-consuming for end-users to define and implement. Thus your organisation may be forced to rely on developers to create, maintain and distribute query results.

We have developed a Business Objects universe which we call the DocReporter universe. It was written to report against the Documentum repository.

The universe is a rapid deployment template (RDT) which when installed will work immediately against a vanilla Documentum repository, thus allowing you to get reports as soon as the database connection is created.

All the standard Documentum types and attributes are supported – cabinet, folder, document, workflow – plus administrative objects (users, groups, ACLs etc). Where your organisation has created custom types/attributes and registered tables in the repository, these can easily be integrated into the Business Objects universe structure.

Reports are straightforward to create and customize and can be distributed in a number of formats – e.g. PDF, XLS, etc – as well as directly to other Business Objects users, via the report repository (library), via an Intranet, overnight refresh and issue using the Business Object scheduling tool (broadcast agent).

The universe also supports all standard Business Objects functionality - e.g. links with other databases, links with other universes – everything that Business Objects can do.

Key business benefits are:

  • Accelerated implementation of the reporting structure using the universe as a template – saves approximately 3 months work against creating a Documentum reporting universe from scratch
  • Minimal programming support for reporting
  • Bespoke reporting requirements met
  • Up-to-the-minute data availability
  • Automated report refresh and issue
  • Empowered Documentum users
  • Integration with other management reporting systems
  • The out-of-the-box universe contains all the standard Documentum objects and functionality – cabinets, folders, documents (including web content, events, VDMs, assemblies, methods), workflows and packages, routers, audit trail, administration (including users, groups, ACLs, jobs and repository configuration). So you can start creating reports for your company straight away.

Any organisation-specific customizations are easily added to the universe structure; you can report against them as soon as they are created.

The universe uses your docbase security to restrict access to data. This is flexible and can be switched off if required.

The Business Objects universe template is compatible with Documentum version 3 onwards. View the DocReporter data sheet to learn more.

There are two screencam demos that show the power of our DocReporter solution for Documentum

Our DocReporter solution for Documentum provides a platform for your business users to run and analyse pre-built reports. With a little additional knowledge users can create ad hoc reports to answer their queries without involving resource from the IT department, e.g. providing an overview of the status of defined document workflows.

DocReporter can also be used by Documentum administrators to assist with docbase administration tasks.
